Son of a Preach — A True Story
A preacher's son loses his father at ten and grows up to become a street magician in New York — the fastest hands in Times Square, picking pockets while his magic act draws the crowd. He's also a heroin addict. Twenty years of it. The magic is how he pays for the addiction, and the addiction is how he survives the grief of being his father's son. His sister is the only person who never stops believing in him.

The Why
Why I Write
I write because the people I love deserve to be seen as more than their hardest chapter.
I write because there is a difference between a story told about someone and a story told for them, and I have only ever wanted to do the second.
I write because the films that changed me — the ones I watched curled up in the dark of my own twenties — were written by people who refused to look away. I owe that to whoever's watching next.
And I write because seven years ago I started a script that I haven't been able to put down, and at some point along the way I realized it was no longer a screenplay. It was a calling. And callings, in my experience, do not let you go until you've answered them all the way through.
